Trade Assistant - HVOF Operator

Join WesTrac’s Hydraulics team and take your skills to the next level!
As an HVOF Operator, you’ll be hands-on with advanced chrome plating technology, working on Cat® hydraulic components in a safety-first, high-performance workshop. This full-time role is based in South Guildford.

Roster: 8 On, 6 Off - days/nights - 12 hrs/day

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Learn to operate the HVOF spray machine (full training provided)
  • Use cylindrical grinders to remove old chrome from rods
  • Run polishing lathes to finish components to spec
  • Carry out repetitive, process‑driven tasks with consistency and attention to detail
  • Work with Workshop Supervisors to meet quality and job requirements
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work area
     

Skills & Experience:

  • No HVOF experience needed — full training provided
  • Any hands‑on workshop background (Mechanical TA, machining, blasting, painting, etc.)
  • Mechanical or lathe experience is an advantage but not essential
  • Good safety habits and clear communication
  • Dogging and Forklift licencesBasic understanding of JSA / Take 5 or willingness to learn
