The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for promoting the rental and sale of truck-mounted aerial work platforms to the existing customer base while expanding on that base to obtain territorial as well as corporate goals. Develop new customer relationships in various industries including refineries, power generation facilities, transmission and distribution networks and wind energy. Develops assigned territory, and implements territorial sales plans to grow business and maintain current customer base. Influences and grow sales with new business opportunities within assigned market area/territory. Continually collaborates with Management to achieve strategic goals and address targeted market growth opportunities.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for the sales and marketing of equipment for assigned markets and accounts

• Provides service and support to the existing customer base

• Sourcing new business opportunities

• Prepares and presents sales agreements and presentations

• Completes and submits sales reports and documentation to maintain the established business systems/ processes and business goals

• Facilitates effective, timely, and complete communications between internal team members, Engineers, and other parties regarding equipment designs, specifications, and all technical aspects of current and future projects

• Manages customer and internal relationships in a manner that promotes the goals of the business unit

• Prepares territory and call plans, sales reports, expense, and sales activity reports

• Develops new accounts and maintain accounts currently assigned

• Formulates bids on new and existing jobs and projects

• Identifies and acquires new market opportunities

• Receives customer orders and serves as the customer contact point

• Collaborates with other departments to generate sales leads and sell the store

• Occasionally assists in familiarizing customers with equipment

• Aids in implementing, sustaining, and developing quality improvement processes that focus on safety, financials, operations, and customer service

• Maintains records of sales or other business transactions

• Prepare sales or other contracts

• Continually develops self in ways that bring value to the customer and enterprise

• Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards

• Performs other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Industry knowledge of basic engineering electrical principles

• Demonstrated knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales)

• Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with the ability to build long-term business relationships

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and applicable software

• Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making

• Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization

• First-class organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills, deadline-oriented

• Understands written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents, and communicates effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience

• Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately

• Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

• The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

 

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent is required, BA or BS Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required

• Minimum of three to five years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required

• Experience selling into refineries, power plants, and electric distribution companies is preferred

 

Travel:

• Extensive driving required; occasional overnight travel required

• Valid driver’s license

 

Physical Requirements:

• This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.

• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets

• This position involves certain periods in a stationary position, standing, walking, and occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping, balancing, and reaching associated with the movement, set up, and tear down of rental equipment

• Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support without
fatigue

• Occasionally moves materials or equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

• This job is generally performed in a professional office environment

• Occasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to extreme weather conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity

• Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
