CDL Delivery Driver
- Deliver, transfer, and retrieve heavy equipment according to the customer order.
- Load, secure for transit, transport, and unload equipment and supplies in a manner that adheres to all required safety and quality standards.
- Instruct customers on the safe and proper operation of delivered equipment.
- Collect customer signatures and remit appropriate rental, sales, or shipping documentation for the delivery and/or retrieval of equipment to ensure accurate order tracking, billing, and timely service.
- Inspect, verify, and log retrieved equipment's general condition, meter readings, and fluid levels prior to departure from the customer site and return to the branch. Notify manager of all excessively dirty and/or damaged equipment.
- Troubleshoot customer delivery-related problems (weather, traffic, breakdowns) to resolution in real time.
- Maintain all motor vehicle logs, shipping documentation, and driving standards as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT), federal/state authorities, and the company.
- Inspect all assigned vehicle and equipment daily and report repair and/or maintenance requests to designated manager.
- Maintain assigned vehicle in a clean and fueled state of readiness.
- Perform minor roadside repairs and basic preventive maintenance to assigned vehicle.
- Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
- Perform related duties as may be assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years work experience as a CDL truck driver hauling heavy equipment or applicable commercial trucking experience.
- Current CDL Class A motor vehicle license, DOT medical certification, and other related licenses as required by the Department of Transportation, federal, and/or state statutes.
- Must not be disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle as per CFR 391.15.
- Must have and maintain a driving record (MVR) which adheres to the company's motor vehicle policy standards.
- Good knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the transportation industry, including DOT regulations.
- Good customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate as well as instruct customers on how to safely and effectively operate a broad range of heavy equipment including dozers, backhoes, excavators, and wheel loaders.
- Ability to safely use material handling tools and equipment to load, secure, transfer, and offload heavy equipment during a shift assignment that could last between 8 and 10 hours.
- Basic truck preventive maintenance and repair skills.
- Ability to read and follow road maps.
- Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, and deadline sensitive environment.
