Sales - Rental Counter Sales Rep

Position Objective
Position duties include but are not limited to: coordinates the rental and inside counter sales of new and used equipment within the assigned branch to achieve profit goals.
Essential Position Duties
- Develops high output rental and sales of machinery.
- Develops marketing strategy to reach as wide a market as possible to expand MacAllister’s business.
- Conveys the highest quality customer service to all buyers and clients.
- Works with other sales coordinators, branch managers, dispatchers and shops to ensure the completeness of all paperwork and contractual agreements.
- Is required to dispatch trucks in a safe and efficient manner to meet customer needs.
- Maintains a safety conscious work environment both inside and outside of store.
- Answers in-coming customer phone calls quickly and efficiently.
- Assists with walk-in customers, outside sales force and other departments and works with dispatch to ensure rental orders are completed “on time”.
- Writes return tickets and does billing, and files it in the proper place.
- Assists with and ensures all equipment in the yard is neat in appearance and in proper order by classification.
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Assist outside sales with quoting and proper filing of all documentation.
- Is responsible for opening and closing the store and the associated security.
- Safety
- Don’t violate any safety rule for policy
- Assist as directed with the following:
- Keep shop and equipment staging area clean and free of clutter
- Maintain all hazardous material law II series procedures
- Ensure that overhead cranes, floor jacks, compressor, welding carts, fire extinguishers, etc. are inspected and documented
- Enforce all personal protective equipment rules and regulations
- Ensure all safety rules and policies are enforced
- Have a weekly tool box safety meeting and document it with a copy given to manager every Friday
- Ensure that all ANSI and DOT inspections are completed with 0 days late
Position Requirements
- Knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through a high school education with technical training.
- Minimum of 5 years selling experience.
- High school equivalency math skills required
- Mechanical troubleshooting experience is very helpful
- Familiarity with surrounding areas would be helpful as well as the ability to read and understand maps of the city and surrounding areas
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, non-verbal, listening and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical skills such as problem solving and the ability to interpret policies, procedures and guidelines
- A complete knowledge of the market and the product with the ability to discuss the technical aspects of machinery such as aerial lifts, welders, generators, light towers and heavy machinery
- Strong leadership skills such as creative thinking, decision making and goal setting
- Moderate computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel. Moderate experience using data base systems.
- Must be able to lift 70+ pounds on an as needed basis in order to assist customers with products
- Must be able to operate all equipment safely
Difficulty of Work and Responsibility
Incumbent performs duties broad in scope and must interpret and apply policies, procedures, guidelines and laws that are generally easy to follow, including CAT guidelines and company policies and procedures. Incumbent performs duties such as pricing strategies and product specifications that are more difficult to obtain, as well as to interpret and apply. Incumbent writes job orders for equipment that will be rented out to customers, which are generally easy to complete. Incumbent completes full contractual agreements for equipment rented out which is a fairly complex and detail oriented task and does require proper training. An error in judgment or procedure such as not completing a contractual agreement or a job order could impact revenues, expenses, operating profits, legal compliance, customer relations and company reputation.

- Solid understanding of the products and their application
- Ability to discuss the technical aspects of the equipment with customers and other employees
- Solid understanding of rental business practices and processes and utilizes them in daily work with minimal errors
- Ability to operate a computer and necessary programs such as Microsoft Office products and database systems
- Understands machine weights and measurements to efficiently utilize the full capacity of the trucks and trailers for delivery
- Knowledgeable of local delivery area, local market and local businesses
