H.O. Penn Machinery, the Caterpillar dealer for the lower 13 counties of New York and the entire state of Connecticut, is currently HIRING a Caterpillar Machine Inside Sales Representative to join our Newington, CT Sales team!

 

*This position offers a base + commission compensation structure, plus medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, and opportunities for growth, training and advancement.

 

**This position requires off-hour on-call (by phone only) availability as needed.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Corporate Building Construction Products Sales Manager, this position is responsible for the following tasks:

 

Professionally handle walk-in and phone inquiries to secure business when opportunities arise:

  • Create an immediate buying atmosphere for walk-in and phone customers by greeting them in a welcoming & professional manner
  • Utilize all of the sales tools to assist in closing business
  • Qualify all leads and pass along to Outside Sales Reps as appropriate
  • Ensure machine display and demo areas (if applicable) are presentable and are ready for use with customers

Contribute to the success of the Machine Sales Department by re-establishing and maintaining contact with assigned small- to medium-sized customer accounts:

  • Manage accounts on your customer list effectively by scheduling calls based on a predetermined frequency
  • Update the customers’ accounts/machine information in the CRM system and develop business relationships
  • Develop and utilize telephone sales concepts to maximize sales call effectiveness
  • Strategize with the Sales Manager and Outside Sales Reps on efforts to target particular territories and customers
  • Support marketing efforts by attending customer events, participating in sales blitzes, and conducting campaign follow up

Effectively and efficiently contribute to the quality of the customers' experience with H.O. Penn:

  • Take ownership of customer problems and follow up to ensure proper resolution
  • Continually strive to develop product/industry knowledge and business intellect
  • Adequately represent the customers' needs to H.O. Penn
  • Utilize the various technologies and tools to communicate the value of Caterpillar and H.O. Penn products and services to a customer’s operation
  • Act as a liaison between departments to share information and ensure customer needs are addressed

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Availability to travel within territory and to other branches as needed required
  • Willingness to be available after business hours and on weekends, etc. occasionally/as needed
  • Must be computer proficient, be able to use MS Outlook, Word, and Excel, CRM proficiency helpful
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to effectively articulate features and benefits to demonstrate value
  • Must have strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate self-motivation

Essential Physical Job Qualifications:

  • Standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time
  • Hand coordination (typing and writing)
  • Occasional forward bending and reaching
  • Occasional walking and climbing stairs
  • Carrying (up to 20lbs.)
