Compressor Technician – Field

This opening is intended to be a Full time position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Perform shop and field repairs overhauls, machine troubleshooting, repair breakdown issues, as well as preventative maintenance on air compressors and air system components.
  • Reporting of system diagnosis and problems to service supervisor including proper documentation and write-ups of field visits.
  • Communicate with service department to identify solutions to problems on compressors, vacuum pumps, systems, blowers and parts.
  • Submission of leads generated on site to service administrator.
  • Prepare all work orders, time sheets, and expense reports accurately, neatly, and timely.
  • Assist in shop jobs including tear down, inspection and rebuilds of complete units.
  • Effectively communicates verbally and in writing with customers and co-workers.

  • Tow trailer/compressors as necessary.
  • Maintain and strengthen customer relationships, be a team player, and have a positive attitude.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work within scheduled parameters including on call after hours’ availability as well as on holidays and weekends when scheduled to be on call.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical intricacies of compressed air systems and the repair of such.
  • Piping and system installation skills, ability to work with copper and pro press fittings is a bonus.
  • Capacity to research and understand operational manuals, schematics, diagrams and work orders as required.
  • Mechanical assembly/disassembly abilities; Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Must be self-disciplined and able to work without direct supervision.
  • Proficiency in use of power tools, meters, cranes/hoists, and other items necessary for compressor diagnosis and repair.
  • Enrollment and participation in compressed air training.
  • Ability to perform physical labor including lifting/moving of heavy objects.
  • Must meet personal tooling requirements necessary to complete job functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or trade school or equivalent.
  • Strong verbal and communications skills.
  • EPA certification.
  • Refrigeration experience/certification preferred.
  • 3 – 5 years of solid field experience involving installations, PM, compressed air experience and repair of equipment (HVAC experience a plus).

  • Stand/walk 1-4 hours in a day. Sit 5-6 hours in a day.
  • Occasionally/frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally/frequently bend, squat and climb; including the ability to ascend and descend ladders.
  • Must use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.

  • Office environment with occasional exposure to shop and warehouse environment.
  • Shop/warehouse environment with exposure to heat, cold, dust, dirt and noise.
  • Field environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, dust and dirt.
  • Occasional travel and overnight stays.
  • Valid Nevada State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
