Position Overview:

The Conditioning Monitoring Supervisor, Mining, will be responsible to support the strategic direction of the organization, demonstrate leadership, integrity, teamwork, quality and urgency in the performance of one’s functions and responsibilities to ensure the goals of customer satisfaction, efficiency, and profitability are achieved.

The purpose of the Condition Monitoring Analyst Supervisor is to establish a continuous improvement model for the department to support the customer by maximizing product availability and productivity, decrease cost per operating hour, and assist in the sales effort by differentiating our product support offering to our customers.

The objective of the Condition Monitoring Analyst Supervisor is to take a proactive approach to servicing the machine – intervene before more severe problems occur by aggregating, correlating and creating Finning (Canada) customer recommendations using the 5 elements of condition monitoring (Equipment Fluid Analysis, Equipment Inspections, Electronic Data, Repair History and Site Conditions) in order to provide critical suggested actions to help customers lower owning and operating costs, improve availability, and reduce warranty costs. These recommendations will improve customer loyalty, increase Finning (Canada) market share, and grow parts and service sales, while reducing the customer's equipment lifecycle costs through equipment management efficiency.

The Condition Monitoring Analyst Supervisor will be responsible to develop the experience, skill and an in-depth understanding of the software tools and processes to be able to coach and mentor others along with the processes and structure required to support continued delivery of customer solutions.

Job Description:

  • Conduct performance conversations and provide coaching and mentoring along with regular feedback to the team. Establish employee goals and conduct performance review
  • Day-to-day leadership for the Condition Monitoring Analysts (CMAs), including recruitment and selection, training, orientation, coaching and mentoring to develop the next generation of CMAs
  • Build, implement and provide knowledge and leadership in the of use Finning and Cat condition monitoring software to refine the analysis processes
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects related to the Condition Monitoring processes and systems
  • Develop and track key performance indicators that balance customer satisfaction with efficiency and financial performance
  • Ensure that CMAs are scheduled appropriately to meet and exceed customer service level agreement expectations

Specific Skills:

  • Ability to drive outcomes based on relationships developed internally and externally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with well-developed internal and industry networking capabilities
  • Ability to use performance metrics and benchmarks to track progress drive behavioral change within Finning
  • A solid understanding of mining maintenance processes and strategies, their effectiveness, and the metrics that clearly describe their performance
  • A solid understanding of the foundation for Condition Monitoring
  • Ability and experience in building an operational excellence strategy leads and opportunities generation 
  • Knowledge of Cat mining machines and their applications
  • Strategic thinking coupled with multi-angle approach to complex situation.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented; work with a minimum of supervision.

  • Must be willing to learn about products sold and services and other departmental functions and procedures


  • Heavy Duty Mechanic, Mechanical or Mining Engineering Degree, or similar education
  • Minimum 3 years leadership experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Applications, SIS and Caterpillar Corporate Web Navigation
  • Service or parts experience at Finning or another Caterpillar dealer preferred.
  • Knowledge of machine application, design, functionality and understanding the environmental effect on the equipment performance.
  • Spanish fluency is considered an asset
