This position is responsible for the overall function and effectiveness of accounting operations for the multiple portfolio companies and investments of the organization. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with portfolio and investment accounting contacts on monthly/quarterly/annual close processes and individual statements for analysis
  • Preparation of consolidated financial statements for all Bluestem investments and companies
  • Upload and index prepared financial statements and reports in to an executive dashboard for purposes of information distribution and recordkeeping.
  • Conducts ad-hoc analyses and prepare reports to facilitate decision-making
  • Develop and implement internal controls, policies and procedures to preserve company assets and investments; coordinate the adoption of these controls across all investments and companies
  • Monitor financial reports for trends and determines ways to reduce costs
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Align Accounting strategy with overall goals of the organization
  • Accounts payable and cash administration functions
  • Bank reconciliations


Required qualifications and experience includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA license
  • Experience managing accounting functions for multiple entities
  • 5+ years of related experience in a business or financial setting
  • Demonstrated ability to be a great team member and lead projects/initiatives
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
