We are now accepting applications for Customer Support Representative Marine

DESCRIPTION: This is a hands-on, tool based field position with a basis in mechanical/technical product support. This role will eventually be groomed for additional customer sales and service responsibilities.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Train and become proficient as a Field Service Technician, using tools and making repairs to Caterpillar equipment
  2. Perform service interval inspections and lubrication of equipment
  3. Keep customer records and write service reports
  4. Perform minor repairs on diesel engines
  5. Assist in coordination of service work and ensure the very best customer services
  6. Maintain and build upon existing customer relationships by recommending new/relevant products and services
  7. Provides quotations for services and spare parts, and sometimes turn-key packages to customers in support of planned and unplanned maintenance
  8. Helps with any special projects as assigned.
  9. Helps foster a culture of professionalism, an open interactive team communication, and a sense of urgency.
  10. Meets or exceeds the customers' expectations as well as the Company's initiatives and maintains Caterpillar's standards of excellence.

Technical training of equipment required. Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school preferred. Qualified applicants will have experience in trouble-shooting and repairing diesel engines. Prior experience with Caterpillar equipment is preferred. The candidate must have basic computer skills. Be able to navigate a computer to open programs and type information into Caterpillar specific software. Must comply with all safety and company regulations. Maintains good work habits and presents a favorable business image towards customers served by the company.


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


Employee must have the ability to acquire basic tools within the first 90 days of employment. Valid Driver's License and clean driving record required.


The majority of this position will be spent travelling throughout an assigned territory.

Hours: 50-65 per week

Location: Harvey, LA

Employee regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts. May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity. Noise level may be loud at times. Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment. Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment. Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places.
