Field Service Supervisor – Preventative Maintenance

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: Ensuring proper execution of preventative/planned maintenance of customer equipment per sold maintenance agreements and OEM maintenance schedules.  Managing the incoming orders, scheduled PM visits, workorder creation strategy/process, parts ordering, technician execution in the field, and workplan improvement.  Supervising office staff, and working with assigned technicians, to facilitate preventative maintenance requirements of the department.

Basic Duties

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of assigned office staff in order to create and maintain preventative maintenance workload.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of assigned field service technicians, in order to execute preventative maintenance workorders.
  • Visit customer sites to review preventative maintenance execution and determine any needed changes.
  • Accommodate customer requests for service, where technician schedule changes as necessary to meet customer desired timeframe.
  • Open work orders by collecting all required information from the customer on the initial phone call.  Keep customers informed of job progression up to and including conclusion.
  • Review all PM work orders for accuracy.  Close workorders.
  • Prepare and communicate warranty and/or goodwill situations with Technical Communicator.
  • Invoice and maintain customer pre-pay accounts to keep track of funds in account and fund expended on maintenance agreement visits that have been executed.
  • Report all invoice disputes related to PM workorders. Work within the department to determine resolution.
  • Maintain high technician productivity at all times. When revenue work is not available, productive maintenance tasks and training requirements must be executed.
  • Communicate Technician safety deficiencies to Direct Supervisor including equipment malfunctions, vehicle safety, jobsite issues and any potential hazard that may arise in the day-to-day operations.
  • Manage the maintenance and serviceability of PM equipment to include loadbanks, trailers, pumps etc.
  • Strive for both operational and process excellence.
    • Operational – Improving the execution, capability, and efficiency of completed work.  Determine improvements needed for both equipment and job plans.
    • Process – Improve the processes and streamline workflow.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily supervisor of PM office staff and multiple assigned Field Service Technicians.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate degree is preferred with minimum two years of management/supervisory experience in service and repair.
  • Engine – generator and electrical experience a plus.  
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office products to include Microsoft Excel
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

     

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to understand, interpret and leverage performance metrics related to efficiency, productivity, profitability, safety, market share, resource deployment and general operations.
  • Exceptional communication, management, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations as they relate to the industry
  • Experienced with Windows based software applications and AS400.
