General Manager – Earthmoving Rental

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Strategic in approach to successfully apply the department’s resources that accomplish department strategies and tactics.
  • Lead and direct the Rental Services, Heavy Rents and Transport businesses to their fullest, safest and most profitable potential, through direct reports.
  • Lead and participate in the company’s safety culture and ensure that the departments are operating with safety as their number one goal.
  • Have a strategic and operational understanding of the rental metrics used in the Rental Excellence Program to lead and achieve Tier 3 or Gold in both Rental Services and Heavy Rents.
  • Successfully and responsibly, manage and grow rental market share (PRRO) in all key markets.
  • Monitor, analyze and adjust the department focus for continuous improvement of operations, functions, systems, resources, internal and external customer service.
  • Develop, execute and meet all quarterly and annual financial targets in Rental Service, Heavy Rents and Transportation departments.
  • Actively participate in Leadership Table projects as well as meet the metrics. Compile and report on the metrics quarterly to the Vice President.
  • Manage the department to meet financial utilization and margin contribution targets.
  • Plan, organize and communicate responsibilities and priorities to direct reports ensuring the successful operation of the department.
  • Develop a strategic fleet rollout plan that maintains consistent quality of equipment, provides multiple price points and age and has the appropriate models required for used equipment sales within the organization.
  • Develop a revolving three-year plan for rental fleet, both Rental Services and Heavy Rents.
  • Develop a revolving three-year strategic plan which estimates Percent of Rental Revenue Opportunity (PRRO) and provides the requirements and plans to increase the branches PRRO.
  • Develop strategies to diversify customer base and industries. (i.e. non-construction, utilities, warehousing, industrial and municipal)
  • Work with Rental Managers. Rental Operations Supervisor, Business Development Leader, Service Operations Supervisor and Asset Analyst in development of ongoing training, processes and management. Set objectives that are clear, consistent, challenging but attainable to reach branch and division financial and safety goals.
  • Develop and execute on plans for small, nimble satellite locations. There are referred to as Fast Rents locations and are typically between 45 min to 1.5 hours from Cashman’s primary rental locations.
  • Participate in the General Manager group team and provide leadership to resolve operational issues within Cashman operations.
  • Lead and continually improve and develop rental’s service organization.
  • Ensure that we have safe and efficient yard operations at all locations.
  • Safely and profitably, grow the Transportation department, with the goal of performing a high majority of our own hauls. Safety is of utmost importance and efficiency is critical.
  • Lead the organization in Customer Experience, with the goal of achieving Top 10 ranking among Cat Dealers.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Develop and maintain strong inter-company working relationships to ensure optimum cooperation and support.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the other Western Cat Dealer Region Rental GM’s/VP’s
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with the department’s manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Meet department’s reporting and administrative requirements in a timely and professional manner.

  • Achieves high quality department service and sales standards as defined in annual business plans, which include safety, marketing, profit/loss, coverage and quality.
  • Actively participates with and supports the department team.
  • Achieves quarterly and annual stated department goals of customer experience through NLS scores, market dominance and profitability by providing leadership, direction and fostering teamwork.
  • Achieves a department customer focus by providing high quality service standards and building and maintaining lasting customer relationships.
  • Provides department staff continuous and timely support through feedback, problem solving and development opportunities.
  • Achieves short-term and long-term department budget goals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred, or extensive rental industry experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in the rental industry managing multiple locations, including five (5) years of senior management experience.
  • Prefer experience in direct customer contact positions including sales, rental, parts or service.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Valid Nevada driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Frequent travel and overnight stays within our business territory. Occasional interstate travel and overnight stays for meetings.
