Peterson Cat has an immediate need for an experienced Risk Management Supervisor at our San Leandro, CA location.
The Risk Management Supervisor reports to the General Counsel and works with other departments and employees within the company as outside attorneys, insurance companies, and other business partners to address insurance matters that arise within the company and its business units as well as to assist with the identification, assessment and management of risk and threats to the company’s assets, income, employees, reputation, sustainability and growth.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Plans, assigns, directs, supervises, reviews and evaluates work of risk management staff, programs and functions. Establishes policies and procedures for program areas within Risk Management Department.
Secure all lines of insurance coverage* by analyzing new and renewal business risks, strategizing with broker regarding coverage and exclusions and negotiating premiums for best rates and/or alternatives. *This includes Peterson and all its subsidiaries, together with its affiliated companies.
Assess and manage insurance programs for all business units, including property, liability, automobile, management protection, aviation and other insurance policies.
Oversee the annual process to determine the organization’s insurance limits as well as review the existing policies for ongoing relevance and necessity.
Keep up to date the latest insurance trends and how they could apply to Peterson’s business.
Ensure all incidents / claims are being reported and managed by responsible departments and/or individuals. Provide training for managers on this process as needed.
Develop appropriate levels of retentions and establish appropriate reserves for claims.
Manage claims process for non-employee related claims, working with in-house attorneys, insurance counsel, company employees, operations, business unit leaders and other relevant parties from initiation of claim to resolution, including pre-litigation activities, coordinating depositions, discovery responses and other litigation related matters.
Perform gap analysis on claims in order to shore up internal processes to mitigate risk.
Review internal processes to identify risk.
Work with internal stakeholders to implement strategies and tactics to reduce risk.
Support and strengthen the internal insurance practices of the organization, including its subsidiaries and affiliated companies.
Obtain and/or maintain Property and Casualty insurance license.
Manage and coordinate compliance with applicable law and initiatives involving legal and insurance teams.
Work with in-house attorneys, insurance team, executives, and administrative and operations departments to implement and improve upon administrative processes for more efficient workflow.
Work with members of contract review team, legal department and operations to have issued applicable certificates of insurance, bonds and such other documents necessary or requested by such departments or personnel in connection with equipment, parts, services and work furnished or to be furnished.
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Property and Casualty Insurance License is a plus. Experience overseeing claims litigation a plus.
