Ziegler CAT has an opening for a Senior Tax Accountant who is responsible for the reporting and payment of Sales and Use Taxes along with managing CCH and D365 updates, fixes, and enhancements associated to sales/use tax. The Senior Tax Accountant plays a supporting role to other tax related responsibilities within the department and will need to keep abreast of new sales and use tax law changes impacting the company. The Senior Tax Accountant will also assist in the preparation of federal and state income taxes as needed.
Prepare and remit all sales and use tax returns in a timely manner.
Research and maintain knowledge of current tax laws/rules changes that may impact the organization (Communicate changes as necessary).
Assist in advising companies on miscellaneous tax matters.
Assist in managing the retention of tax records, tax returns, and other documents.
Support the gathering of information required by the IRS and various state/local taxing authorities related to external audits.
Identify and implement process improvements within the operational areas to ensure tax requirements are met related to Sales and Use tax
Facilitate the completion of short and long term projects from start to
Post all tax payments in the general ledger. Reconcile related accounts accordingly.
Assist in the preparation of Federal and State Income tax returns as needed.
Review customer sales tax exemption forms. Provide backup support on facilitating the setup of exemptions in CCH.
Provide backup support on reviewing expiring customer sales tax exemptions. Provide backup support on facilitating correspondence to customers with expiring sales tax exemptions. Provide backup support on facilitating correspondence to credit administrators on expiring customer sales tax exemptions.
Lead for testing CCH and D365 upgrades, enhancements, and bug fixes
Audit internal transactions to ensure proper assessment of sales and use taxes
Serve as back-up role answering Landesk Tax questions and provide support to the Tax support call center
Assist in the coordination of external audits from Federal, State and finish.
Coordination of strategies related to estate and succession planning.
Bachelor’s Degree required
CMI and CPA preferred
5 to 8+ years of sales and use tax accounting experience required
Previous experience in a public accounting firm that included sales and use tax research, reporting, audit defense, and consulting preferred
Willingness to continually educate yourself on new developments and changes related to tax required
