We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Service Technician at our power systems service department in Gulfport.  We offer excellent pay (starting $20+/hour, depending on experience), great benefits, and specialized technical training.

The Service Technician-Engine is responsible for the set-up, repair, service, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and installation of replacement parts on Caterpillar marine, industrial, and petroleum diesel and spark ignited engines as well as electric power generation products (generators, switch gear systems).  This is an entry level skilled trade position working independently and/or with guidance from service mentors in a service shop setting and also assisting other technicians on repairs at the customer job site.  The position reports to the Service Manager.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts, including but not limited to hydraulic, electrical AC/DC, and diesel engines in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
  • Accompany and assist field service technicians in the disassembly, adjustment, installation, and repair of reciprocating engine based marine, industrial, and petroleum power systems in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
  • Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
  • Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
  • Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
  • Research and determine reusability of parts in accordance with published manufacturer guidelines.
  • Coordinate the ordering of replacement parts with supervisor.
  • Prepare and submit detailed, complete and legible service reports of all inspection and repairs performed using prescribed forms and procedures in a timely manner.
  • Keep supervisor regularly apprised of status of assigned repair jobs and assist in addressing customer questions and concerns.
  • Prepare, inspect and test operate machines prior to delivery.
  • Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
  • Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
  • Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
