JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Truck/Truck Engine Serviceman will troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, change components, and perform maintenance on Caterpillar on-highway engines and trucks, Peterbilt trucks, and other OEM on-highway trucks and engines.
Effective reading and writing skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Mechanical and mathematical aptitude. Computer literacy. Knowledge of Caterpillar and Peterbilt truck and engine product lines, and the proper troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and overhaul procedures for those products. The ability to read and understand schematics, service manuals, and repair diagrams. The ability to lift and carry 60+ pound components, stands for extended periods of time, climbs onto vehicles, and works in tight enclosures. Able to write accurate and descriptive service reports when jobs are completed.
High School diploma required.
Experience with Caterpillar and Peterbilt trucks and engine products is preferred
Experience with electronic engine and vehicle system diagnostic software is preferred
Knowledge of OEM vehicular systems is preferred (brakes, suspension, steering, ABS systems, etc.
A CDL is preferred, as is the willingness to perform test drives.
Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb+ pulling
Standing/Sitting Up and downstairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines.
Repetitive Motions Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
