Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week) 

Job Summary:

Provide technical support services to all Empire departments and clients, across all product lines.  Research and solve technical problems for assigned product line.  Develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, clients, and manufacturer personnel.

Essential Functions:

  1. First responder to clients technical needs and provide troubleshooting support over the phone as well as back office resources to fulfill request.
  2. Apply the proper telephone etiquette and build positive rapport to satisfy various client situations and needs.
  3. Research, analyze, track frequency and severity, and assist in correcting product problems requested from clients.
  4. Work in conjunction with the sales team to provide technical presentations, demonstrations, pilots and evaluation with product that meets client needs.
  5. Perform VDC Services such as 3D laser scanning, layout services, BIM modeling, software installation/customization and estimating.
  6. Train internal and external clients on product functionality and usability.
  7. Provide pre-sale technical assistance and product information to sales team.
  8. Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
  9. Gather detailed information and interpret client requirements to provide comprehensive product demonstrations.
  10. Create procedures, user guides and support documentation for clients.
  11. Update and maintain client contact data in company CRM.
  12. Travel with overnight stays as required.
  13. Act as an internal expert in VDC Services.
  14. Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain technical library.
  2. Participate in NPI (New Product Introduction Launches).
  3. Take on special projects to improve efficiencies within the department and their processes.
  4. Collaborate with internal departments to further product development.
  5. Assist in the technical development of the sales team on CAD and Field Layout total stations.
  6. Assisting in the technical development of the sales team on CAD and Field Layout total stations and 3D Laser Scanning.
  7.  Work within and promote corporate values.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Must have extensive knowledge of Trimble survey and/or mapping equipment and software.

  2. Previous experience with a survey or GIS firm.

  3. Specialized skills in any/all of the following considered a plus: Scanning, Monitoring, CAD, Tunneling, Civil & Road Design, Heavy Construction, UAV/UAS.

  4. Must have strong interpersonal skills sufficient to professionally interact with internal and external clients, manufacture personnel, and co-workers.
  5. Excellent communication and client relation skills.
  6. Must have experience using Caterpillar and other manufacturer’s technical service information.
  7. Mechanical and educational aptitude to maintain and improve understanding of the application and products targeted at construction positioning, layout, 3D Laser Scanning, asset management, paper to digital field solutions for QA/QC etc.
  8. Must have technical competency and passion for technology.
  9. Strong knowledge of targeted client prospects and the opportunities for BIM modeling, 3D Laser Scanning, Estimating, Scheduling and Field layout solutions.
  10. Must have strong verbal and written technical subject communication skills.
  11. Skilled computer and MS Office user.
  12. Ability to handle complex or multiple requests with multiple priorities.
  13. Must have planning and organization skills sufficient to complete work assignments proactively and on schedule.
  14. Strong understanding of design software platforms.
  15. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate verbally and in writing with others in an objective and cooperative manner.
  16. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients.
  17. Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
  18. Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.
  19. Must have extensive knowledge of Trimble survey and/or mapping equipment and software.
  20. Previous experience with a survey or GIS firm.

Education and Experience:

  1. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  2. Previous experience with computer systems including, Microsoft Office, Windows, and SPI.
  3. Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
