Used Parts and Service Manager

Ziegler CAT has an opening for a Used Parts and Service Manager that provides leadership support for all Warehouse staff and Technicians by developing employees to their full potential through mentoring, communication, and training. The Used Parts and Service Manager will also be in charge of developing a culture of strong professionalism, a high sense of urgency, and strong customer focus.


  • Performs basic parts administration, including monitoring of: profit and loss statements, buildings and equipment, stock order files and their claims, cyclical inventory accounts, cash sale files, and the inventory of core and warranty parts
  • Manages the assets and approved budget for their department
  • Sets the operating standards within their section of the organization
  • Lead the branch service shop to ensure an efficient, safe, and profitable operation
  • Manage daily work-flow delegating work to shop and field technicians
  • Advise customers on repairs, define the scope of work, and ensure expectations are met
  • Assist technicians on complex diagnostic and repair issues
  • Oversee technician productivity and performance including conducting annual reviews, administering disciplinary action as necessary, promoting safety in the workplace, and helping to lead technical and professional development
  • Assists internal and outside customers with parts and technical information for various product lines
  • Assists sales department with storage and preparation of engines and other products
  • Works in a cooperative manner with team and superiors
  • Interviews, selects, and hires employees for their team, following dealership hiring procedures
  • Manages daily workflow within the department by establishing operating procedures and policies, and prioritizing, distributing, and monitoring work assignments
  • Resolves workplace conflicts, taking appropriate, respectful, and consistent action to resolve performance issues
  • Assesses the skills and weaknesses of their employees and uses that information to develop the strongest possible team
  • Initiates a training process when skill gaps are found to develop employees for their current positions
  • Supports their employees in the quote process, providing any additionally necessary information
  • Analyzes needs and establishes development and training programs for team members


  • 2-year technical degree strongly preferred; High school degree required
  • 5+ years of relevant diesel equipment knowledge required
  • 2+ years in a lead or supervisory position preferred

  • Ability to build a strong team that is committed to taking care of customers
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required
  • Ability to problem solve and think creatively to take care of customers in the most efficient way required
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Understanding of warranty issues required
