Shift Supervisor
Reporting to the Workshop Manager or Workshop Coordinator, the Shift Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality maintenance operations across the MPA (Maintenance Partnership Agreement) site. You will lead a team of tradespeople and Leading Hands, drive operational excellence, and uphold WesTrac’s commitment to safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
This position is ideal for an experienced trades professional with strong supervisory capability, a passion for developing people, and the ability to deliver results in a dynamic, high‑performance environment.
Roster – 8 days on 6 days off 8 nights on 6 nights off - 12.5 hours (including unpaid meal break)
Location – Kalgoorlie Residential (will consider FIFO arrangements)
Allowances – Lucrative allowances for the role residentially (shift, housing and location allowance)
What You’ll Do
- Champion a safe, compliant work environment, proactively managing hazards and incidents
- Lead and coordinate daily maintenance and repairs to maximise performance availability and minimise downtime
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring maintenance outcomes align with customer expectations and deliver exceptional service and reliability
- Maintain high-quality standards, including contamination control and minimal rework
- Provide strong team leadership through coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Monitor KPIs and communicate objectives, acting as a key escalation point for operational issues
- Manage labour, costs, and work orders, ensuring accuracy in timesheets, AMT data, and expenditure
- Support planning, forecasting, and vendor management, including invoice validation and warranty opportunities
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (CPS/MSR) to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
- Ensure smooth shift handovers and collaborate closely with planning, reliability, and customer teams
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Trade-qualified Plant Mechanic or Auto Electrician with 5+ years’ experience
- Proven supervisor with strong coaching and mentoring capability
- Customer-focused mindet with a demonstrated ability to manage relationships and deliver outcomes that meet or exceed customer expectations
- Solid maintenance operations knowledge with understanding of basic financials
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and confident working independently or in a team
Desirable
- Experience within a Caterpillar dealer environment
- CPS / Lean / Six Sigma (Green Belt) exposure or qualification
- Cert IV in Frontline Management or Diploma of Management
- Section 26 Statutory Supervisor Qualification
